IKC is a bible-believing Christian church. We prepare people to make a difference. We believe that strong active people build strong communities and strong communities IMPACT the world. Here is a summary of the doctrine that guides what we do.
The Holy Scriptures
We believe the Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired, and is a perfect treasure of heavenly instruction; that it has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth without any mixture of error for its matter; that it reveals the principles by which God will judge us, and therefore is, and shall remain to the end of the world.
One True and Living God
We believe there is one true and living God eternally existing in three persons: the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The Way of Salvation
We believe Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God, conceived of the Holy Spirit, and born of the Virgin Mary. Jesus was crucified to pay for OUR sins, buried, and raised from the dead. He ascended to heaven in fulfillment of the Holy Scriptures. He is our redeemer, Intercessor, Messiah and King. Salvation of sinners is wholly of grace through the Son of God, Jesus Christ. The blessings of salvation is made free to all by the Gospel.
Sanctification
We believe sanctification is the process by which, according to the will of God, we are made partakers of his holiness; that it is a progressive work; that is begun in regeneration; and is carried on in the hearts of believers by the presence and power of the Holy Spirit.
Baptism and the Lord's Supper
We believe Christian baptism is the immersion in water of a believer, into the name of the Father, and Son, and Holy Ghost; to show forth our faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Savior, in our death to sin and resurrection to a new life.
The World To Come
We believe the Scriptures teach that the end of the world is approaching; that at the last day, Christ will descend from heaven, and raise the dead from the grave for final retribution; that a solemn separation will then take place; that the wicked will be judged to endless punishment, and the righteous to endless joy; and that this judgment will fix forever the final state of men in heaven or hell, on principles of righteousness.
The Sinfulness of Man
We believe man is sinful and in need of redemption. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God, therefore, repentance is commanded of God for all and necessary for forgiveness of sins. Jesus' sacrifice paid God the Father's required price for our sins. Man is delivered from the bondage of his sinfulness through repentance and submission to Jesus.
Transformation of the Soul
We believe committed Christians grow and develop character as they discover and submit to God's principles through the study of God's Word. This growth is aided by the Ministry of the Holy Spirit and ministry gifts (people) that God positions within His church.
The Gifts and Fruit of the Holy Spirit
We believe God endows all of His people with gifts that are purposed to enrich the lives of others. We believe in the nine gifts and the nine fruits of the Spirit as taught in the New Testament.
The Coming of Christ
We believe in the pre-millennial second coming of Jesus. First, to resurrect the righteous dead and to catch away the living saints to Him in the air. Second, to reign on the earth a thousand years.
Eternal Life
We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked; the righteous to eternal life and the wicked without Christ to eternal damnation.
